Hurricane Milton - Update #2
October 7, 2024 – 07:00 PM AST
Per the National Hurricane Center:
Hurricane Milton remains a Category 5 storm with maximum sustained winds of 285 km/h (180 mph), located 100 km northwest of Progreso, Yucatán, and 380 km from Cancun. An Orange Alert is in effect for the Mexican Caribbean coast, including Holbox, Contoy, Isla Mujeres, and Cancun. Heavy rain, strong winds, and high waves are expected to occur in the coming hours.
Excursions/Activities
- All aquatic and nautical excursions will be canceled today, October 07, due to the port closure.
- Excursion operating in the state of Yucatan (Chichen Itzá and Ek Balam) will be suspended tomorrow, Tuesday, October 8.
- Ferries to Cozumel and Isla Mujeres will also be suspended tomorrow, Tuesday, October 8 until conditions allow the route to be reestablished.

Hurricane Milton - Update #1
October 7, 2024 – 13:00 PM AST
Per the National Hurricane Center:
Hurricane Milton, now a Category 5 storm with winds reaching up to 250 km/h (155 mph), is located 200 km (124 miles) northwest of Progreso, Yucatán, and approximately 500 km (310 miles) from Cancun. A Blue Alert is in effect for the Mexican Caribbean coast, including Holbox, Contoy, Isla Mujeres, and Cancun. While no direct impact on the coast is expected, rain, strong winds, and high waves are anticipated.
Storm status
- A Hurricane Watch is in effect for Celestun to Rio Lagartos, Yucatán, Mexico.
- A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Rio Lagartos to Cancún, Mexico.
Hotel status
- As of this advisory, all hotels are operating normally with no change.
Airport status
- Cancun Airport (CUN), Tulum Airport (TQO), and Cozumel Airport (CZM) are open and operating with some delays and cancelations.
