Your encounter with whale sharks begins when you cruise out of Cabo in comfortable, air-conditioned vehicles and drive through the beautiful desert on a brand-new highway to La Paz. Upon arrival, you will get ready for the swim of a lifetime. Local boat captains will take you just offshore into the beautiful Sea of Cortez where the whale sharks gather during the winter. Along the way, keep an eye out for other sea life, including humpback whales, rays and dolphins that share the waters with the whale sharks. Whale sharks are, as their name implies, whale-sized sharks. These gentle creatures migrate to the warm seas in search of food, swimming together in large pods as they gather plankton.

- Wear your swimsuit, biodegradable sunscreen and non-slip shoes
- Bring a change of clothes and a light jacket or sweater
- Fairly vigorous swimming is required; previous snorkeling experience recommended
- Guests with respiratory problems, limited mobility, neck or back problems and expectant mothers may not participate
- The tour may be cancelled without previous notice due to safety reasons regarding weather conditions
- Finding whale sharks can’t be guaranteed, though each tour implies searching for them for 90 minutes
