Description
El Saino Nature Reserve
After a leisurely drive from your resort, you’ll arrive to Saino Nature Reserve to get started on this signature experience. The short, approximately 1 hr hike in the reserve will have you maneuvering over the Higuerones Hanging Bridges, a series of 16 exhilerating suspended walkways, some over 65 ft. (20 m.) high above the forest floor as your guide keeps you on your toes looking to spot some of the incredible bio-diversity Costa Rica boasts.
Thanks to these sustainable practices and activities, they have been able to obtain the maximum level in certifications of this kind. That has set an example for Costa Rica in matters of sustainability in gastronomical areas. This not only provides nutritional value but also protection of native species and symmetry in the menu’s variety and seasonality of the local production.
Buena Vista del Rincon Cultural Center
The Cultural Center is set amidst the ambiance of an old sabaneros (cowboys) ranch where you will learn about the long-held traditional process of the trapiche, an old-fashion machine that was engineered to extract sugary juice from raw sugar cane. You’ll visit a traditional kitchen and savor small pastries/empanadas, tortillas & cheese and rich Costa Rican coffee. Later, you’ll be treated to a demonstration by local Guaitil artisans of the process of producing Chorotega pottery, a technique developed over thousands of years, crafted and honed in pre-Columbian Latin America before the conquistadors.
El Mirador Observation Post
Next, enjoy a fun, old-fashion ride aboard a tractor-pulled carriage that takes you up to the El Mirador Bar. Sway along tropical jungle paths and cross over riverbeds as you take in the ambiance of the transitional rainforest scenery on your way to witness an incredible view of a breathtaking Costa Rican sunset. At the El Mirador, enjoy a unique snack of mango ‘ceviche’ and bread-eggplant with sugar cane honey accompanied by a refreshing tropical cocktail.
Pacayas Hot Springs
After a post-card perfect sunset, you’ll arrive to the Pacayas Hot Springs & Spa. Surrounded by rivers flowing down from nearby mountains, you’ll find 5 thermal pools fed by hot springs coming from the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, each one of them, amazingly, with a different water temperature. Jump into one of the pools and/or mud baths and indulge your senses, cleansing away whatever pre-vacation stress is still lingering!
Las Rocas Restaurant
Top off this wonderfully eclectic Signature Experience with a 5-course dinner served in a reserved section of the restaurant, before making the return trip back to your resort.
