The town is the capital of the Guanacaste province, and as the largest city in northwestern Costa Rica, it features a bustling plaza with many restaurants and shops, some beautifully preserved colonial architecture, and several must-see churches, like the gorgeous Church of the Immaculate Conception of Mary.
