Description
The natural beauty of Mismaloya
Puerto Vallarta has many natural scenarios that astonish because of their beauty, just like the Marine National Park Los Arcos de Mismaloya. Located right in front of Mismaloya beach, “Los Arcos” is an imposing place formed by majestic rock structures in the middle of the sea. It is one of the most liked tours by visitors and an ideal place to discover marine life, besides being a protected area that keeps an unparalleled beauty. Since it’s a protected area, Los Arcos National Marine Park is brimming with marine life such as clownfish, octopus, spotted eagle rays, manta rays, colorful tropical fish, and even the occasional sea turtle. This protected area is also ideal for the breeding of different seabirds such as pelicans, silly birds, and parakeets. Don’t forget your camera!
Snorkel at some of Vallarta’s most scenic locations
The first snorkeling spot on the list is Mahahuitas. This could be one of the best places to snorkel in Puerto Vallarta if you want to avoid busy crowds. Marine life thrives in the waters of this sheltered cove with its shallow reefs. Expect to see colorful parrotfish, spotted eagle rays, giant damsels, mantas, and more. You may even see stingrays, octopus or eel, and if you are lucky, a sea turtle. The water in the cove here is calm and shallow enough that if you have never snorkeled before you will feel quite safe here. It’s a lovely place to relax.
The second snorkeling spot is in Colimilla. Located in the south of Puerto Vallarta. A hidden, small, and beautiful beach surrounded by the exotic mountains of the Sierra Madre, known as the smallest beach in Mexico. This is another beach that can only be reached by boat. Though the beach is smaller than others, get ready to spot various tropical fish such as damsels, sergeant majors, reef cornetfish, eagle rays, and moray reels. Keep your eyes peeled for butterflyfish, they are beautiful!
The final spot is Yelapa, a secluded fishing village nestled in the Sierra Madres, which offers peace and privacy. Accessible by boat, it charms artists with its lush tropics and calm waters. Relax on the beach or explore the vibrant marine life.
Finally, enjoy a well-deserved light lunch and head back to the meeting point. If you are looking to escape from it all, then this tranquil day trip is an absolute must.
