Description

Set off to explore a hidden rainforest jewel of Costa Rica

Your adventure begins early in the morning with a pick-up from your resort in Guanacaste province. A very scenic route will take you through country areas and toward a town called El Gavilan, a rural community tucked away in the mountainous area to the north of the iconic Rincon de la Vieja Volcano. You’ll be at a unique place that has been hidden away in the thickness of the Costa Rican rainforest and thus was just recently discovered by civilization.

As soon as you enter this magnificent place, your soul will feel completely at ease with a memorable welcome from the amazing greenery of the rainforest. The slower pace of country life will also be noticeable, as your hosts will welcome you with bread that they made fresh in a clay oven, along with the best quality coffee homegrown in the area. It could feel like you’re visiting your family in the country after many years without seeing them.

Hike through the Costa Rica rainforest, view an incredible waterfall

Following a welcome briefing, your bilingual guide will take you on a hike inside the magnificent rainforest of Costa Rica. Be amazed by some of the greenest displays of nature you’ve ever seen, as the flora maintains its verdant appearance all year long thanks to a constant influx of rain. Your guide will also be quick to point out some of the delightful fauna that inhabit the area.

This hiking trek will be about half a mile in length, taking around 80 minutes to complete a nature-filled journey. The highlight of your hike will be a stunning waterfall that flows with all the power of the mountains, creating a gorgeous natural pool at the foot of the cascade.

Enjoy a Costa Rican lunch and relax in a thermal river on Rainforest Trip

To recharge from your nature-filled exploration through this rainforest jewel, take a break with a delightful Costa Rican lunch made with fresh ingredients that capture the flavor of this wonderful rural region. Enjoy grilled chicken or beef accompanied by rice, beans, plantain, and a fresh drink. Feel relaxed as you listen to the sounds of nature during your meal, especially if the rain begins to fall. But you’re not done unwinding in this paradise setting, because you’ll soon have to change into your bathing suit for the final part of your journey.

After your meal, head over to a thermal river that channels the warmth of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano itself. Immerse yourself into these heavenly waters and let them soothe your soul, feeling how all your worries evaporate during one unforgettable hour. When your escape comes to an end, change back into your normal clothes, say goodbye to your hosts, and return to your vehicle for the return ride to your Guanacaste resort, where you’ll return more relaxed and more in touch with nature than ever.
